Blue Heron in the Bush original painting

Blue Heron in the Bush is an original acrylic painting on a 18 inch by 24 inch gallery wrapped canvas.

The painting is of a live scene in the marshy area near Palacios, Texas.  I was lucky to get a picture taken of the heron before it flew off the branch it was sitting on, partly because the bird had to turn completely around to be able to fly out of the bush it was in.  And, the painting displays the bird in a crouched position getting ready for take off.  Herons and Egrets are numerous in the Texas Coastal area and this little slough is one of our favorite spots to photograph them.

The painting was created with acrylic paints using palette knifes for tree texture and brushes for the bird and grasses.  Blue Heron in the Bush will look great in your home or business.

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Original Painting

There are a lot of paintings of the historic Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and yes, here is another one for you to choose from.

The original has SOLD.  7/15/19

The ‘Cape Hatteras Lighthouse’ is an original fine art painting in acrylics on a 24 by 12 inch gallery canvas by Jimmie Bartlett.  This is the first of the four lighthouses we visited on the outer banks of North Carolina.  Each has it’s own artistic nature of which I am attempting to capture on canvas from the photos I took of them.  The Hatteras Lighthouse is the tallest of the out banks lights and has the unique black and white spiral stripes painted on it.  I chose to paint this one on vertical canvas and the size is perfect for hanging in those wall spaces needing something special.  I am working on the other three lighthouses and hope to have them done by the end of the summer.

There are a lot of paintings of the historic Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and yes, here is another one for you to choose from.  I hope you will consider this nautical painting, capturing a bit of history, to hang on your wall.

Sunflower Portrait original oil painting

The Sunflower Portrait is painted on a 20 by 16 inch gallery wrap canvas in a realistic representation with artistic attempt to capture as much of the shapes and color that make the flower so beautiful. The use of shadow and light to create the shapes required a lot of color mixing and blending. I am very happy with the end results. I hope your enjoy the work.  You can purchase this painting and others at our Bartlett Pair Art website.

Check out the pics capturing stages of the painting process.

Reviewing Older Paintings

I have started checking my archive files for paintings I did in my earlier years.  I find this process interesting and inspiring to review my journey and growth as an artist.  The journey is not over yet.  I will always feel like a novice yearning to learn more and become a better painter.  Back to where I was going with this post, take a look at this bluebonnet painting composed in an oval.  The petals at the bottom are painted coming out of the oval providing an interesting illusion.  The original was done in oils using the oval idea Bob Ross (one of my favorite artists) and others were doing on TV.

I enjoyed the work and will be posting more of my older works, and of course, new paintings as I finish them; so, check back to see whats going on.  Prints are available.

Merry Christmas to You and Yours!

Snowy Egret on the Rocks, original painting

White Egret on the Rocks
White Egret on the Rocks

I finished painting the Snowy Egret on the Rocks painting done in acrylics this week and thoroughly enjoyed the entire process.   I used a reference photo I took of the Egret fishing along the shoreline in Palacios, Texas, which by the way is one of my favorite places to go to take pictures of birds and boats.

The painting is 24 inches by 12 inches on a standard depth gallery wrap canvas with edges painted.  I started the work blocking in the traced image outline and background with basic colors without detailing.  At this point, I got intrigued with the water movement and spent most of the time creating the wavering action and reflections.  Lastly, the white bird brights and shadows was done.  I think it came out OK?  The original and prints are available, see  https://bartlettpairart.com/product/snowy-egret-on-the-rocks-original-painting/

Merry Christmas Everybody!
